Living & buying in Pollença
Pollença is the cultural heart of north Mallorca — a year-round market town at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, with a historic old town, a lively arts scene and some of the island's most sought-after property.
- Historic old town at the foot of the Tramuntana
- Strong, resilient property market
- Beaches & marina 10 minutes away
- ~50 min to Palma airport
What it's like to live here
Stone townhouses line the narrow streets around the Plaça Major, where the Sunday market and café terraces keep the town busy all year. The famous Calvari steps and a calendar of music and art festivals give Pollença a genuine community feel rather than a seasonal-resort one.
The Port de Pollença, with its promenade and family beaches, is a ten-minute drive away — an authentic inland base with the sea close at hand.
The property market
Pollença offers everything from restored old-town townhouses and village apartments to country fincas on the surrounding farmland and sea-view villas in the hills. Prices reflect the demand — one of the strongest micro-markets on the island — but quality and long-term value are high.
Many homes carry real character: original stone, beamed ceilings, internal patios and roof terraces with Tramuntana views.
Practical details
Palma and the airport are about 50 minutes by car. Shops, restaurants, a health centre, schools and sports facilities are all in town, which makes Pollença as suited to full-time living as to a holiday home.
